A Cruelty Free Haul

I woke up this morning to hear the rain bucketing down. Perfect lazy Sunday weather. I’ve managed to successfully stay in my pajamas all day, we’ve watched a film and had pizza delivered. It’s been lovely – mild hangover aside.

A few weeks ago I received a little bonus from work. Most sensible people who are in their late 20’s and are wanting to buy a property in Auckland would have put this straight into their savings account. I however went on a little shopping spree: I bought the boy some new clothes, I bought myself some new clothes and I bought a few items that have been on my wishlist for a little while.

Caliwood Metal Straws-

An Instagram follower of mine recently commented on one of my photos and asked if I used metal straws. Metal straws are something that I have been meaning to buy for a long time, and this follower happened to sell them on their online store and offered me a discount. Check out The Natural Co if you’re looking to stock up on your organic, cruelty-free and eco-friendly faves. I very eagerly accepted Rebecca’s kind offer of a discount and made a purchase. I would like to mention here that I received the BEST customer service from The Natural Co. There was an issue with the payment and Rebecca sent my purchase to me anyway, even though she hadn’t actually received my money. Of course we got the issue resolved, but I actually received the straws before we had resolved the issue. I cannot thank Rebecca enough for this. But back to the straws. They are very cute and chic, and Caliwood make three style of straw. They have a standard straw (which is what I bought), a smoothie straw and a cocktail straw. The packs come with four straws and straw cleaner. I just need to remember to pack them away in my handbag for lunch dates – and of course start asking for no straw when I order drinks. But I am very excited about this new eco-venture.

The Botanic Alchemist-

I am a sucker for cleansing oils. They smell divine, they feel instantly nourishing on the skin and they’re easy to use. I have used the Tailor Cleansing Oil in the past and loved it. The Botantic Alchemist has been on my radar for a little while and I have been dying to try their products. After receiving my bonus I thought now is the time. I wont go into too much detail about this product here as I am going to write a full review shortly.

Freerange Natural Deodorant-

Another company that has been on my radar for a while now. I love trying new natural deodorants, so jumped at the chance to pick this up. (I have a post about my favourite cruelty free deodorants here if you wanted to check that out). This deodorant comes in a pot and you apply the product to your underarm with your finger and rub it in. The formula is lovely and soft and applies easily. It has a subtle fragrance which I have had trouble placing, but I think it might be spearmint? I bought the Active formula and have been loving it so far. Once I have used it more regularly I will write a more thorough post on my thoughts. Freerange have a selection of deodorants, all certified organic and all cruelty free. Definitely worth checking them out.

That’s all from me today. Have a wonderful week. Oh and in keeping with the trend of the metal straws, let me know any of your zero-waste tips!

Until next time,

Anita xx
